Baseball beats LaGrange; Beasley gets win #499

LaGRANGE, Ga. -- Berry College pounded out a season-high 19 hits in its 12-6 win at LaGrange on Tuesday night. The Vikes scored seven runs in the sixth inning to break the game open.

BC improved to 9-4 and it was Head Coach David Beasley's 499th win. LaGrange fell to 3-8.

TJ Montgomery (1-1) had a fine start for Berry. He threw 5 innings, allowed one run, three hits, struck out five and walked one batter. 

Freshman Sam Joyce was 4-5 with a double and scored twice for the Vikings. Dusty Tyson was 3-4 with a double and had two RBI. Collecting two hits apiece for Berry were T.C. Boyd; Ben Jernigan; Alex McGill; Ryan Smith and Doug Heath.

Glenn Williamson and Zach Dutton tossed hitless relief stints for BC.

Chris Laye recorded three hits for the Panthers.

The Vikings begin a three-game SAA series at Sewanee on Saturday.
