Jackson, Miss.—Berry (19-7, 8-2) and Millsaps (16-9, 7-9) split the four game series by the Vikings winning the doubleheader Sunday. After dropping two games on Saturday, BC took game one 4-2, and prevailed in the nightcaop, 6-2.
In game one, Berry fell behind early, but quickly rebounded in the third inning by scoring three runs and taking advantage of miscues. Sarah Moore smoked a RBI single plating Sarah Brown, and Sara Vigue was able to score on a passed ball later in the inning. Abby Daniels continued her last week's success with a RBI single to tack on the third run of the inning.
The Majors tried to retaliate in the fifth with one run, but could not collect enough effort to catch up to BC.
Of the nine players with an at-bat, eight collected one hit each to account for the eight Berry hits.
Rachel Bartoe tacked on the final run for Berry in the seventh inning on a solo homer.
Allie Coronado (5-3) pitched five and one third inning giving up seven hits and two runs, while striking out four. Andrea Cole finished the game without giving any runs or hits to get her first save on the season.
In game two, the Vikes scored all of their runs in the first and the last inning, three runs each inning. Berry finished the game defeating Millsaps 6-2.
Kayla Davis (7-2) started and completed the second game only giving up two runs off four hits.
Shelby Smith went two for three with a double and two singles while plating two RBIs. Daniels took advantage of runners on with a single to score the first run of the game. Smith roped a RBI double to match. Bartoe hit into a ground out to get the third run of the first inning.
Berry showed plate discipline allowing two runs to walk in the top of the seventh. Smith cracked another RBI single in the inning.
The Berry College Vikings return home on April 5 to take on Hendrix in a doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
