JACKSON, Miss. -- Berry College (19-8, 8-3) lost the third game of the series to the Majors (14-13, 4-7) by a final score of 9-4, but return to Mount Berry winning the SAA series after sweeping on Saturday.
Berry scored one run in both the first and second inning. In the first inning, Stephen Gaylor grounded to score Dusty Tyson from third. In the next frame, Zach Farmer scored on an error committed by the Majors.
Millsaps scored six runs on solid hitting and errors in the sixth inning. However, Berry tried to fight back, but ultimately could not overcome the strong inning by the Majors.
Both Farmer and Alex McGill cracked two hits each. Farmer roped a double and a single, and McGill stroked a triple and a single in the match. Will Heard came up with a clutch hit in the sixth that plated two runs off his single.
TJ Montgomery (3-3) got pinned for the loss going two and a third giving up five runs, all earned, and a three-run homer by Millsaps, William Chenoweth. Zach Dutton held his own in the last two innings pitched only giving up two hits and a run.
MC's James Perkins (2-0) picked up the win by going all nine innings giving up four runs on nine hits and striking out three.
Berry hosts Emory on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
