Vikings complete series sweep of Tigers

ROME, GA. -- Berry College completed a four-game SAA sweep on visiting Sewanee on Sunday. The Vikings won both games by 11-0 scores and each game was shortened to five innings.

In the opener, BC plated five runs in the second and third frames en route to the 11-0 victory. Katie Rowland led the offense after going 3-4 with a double, two runs and three RBI. Abby Daniels, Sarah Vigue and Shakarah Boswell all had two hits. Vigue recorded her first home run of the season.

Viking pitcher Andrea Cole improved to 4-1, allowed no runs, scattered four hits, walked none and fanned two Tigers.

Courtney Sanders and Tori Haugvoll collected two hits apiece for Sewanee (3-13, 0-8).

In the nightcap, Allie Coronado and Kayla Davis combined to shutout the Tigers. Coronado gave up no hits in the first two frames. Davis allowed one hit in the last three innings and improved to 7-1 for the year.

Shelby Smith went 2-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBI. Daniels was 2-2 with a double, two runs and knocked in two BC runners.

The Vikings (17-5, 9-0) travel to play at Millsaps next weekend.
