Vikes edge Petrels, 6-5, in rubber game

ATLANTA -- T.C. Boyd went 2-3 with a triple and  two RBI and Chad Busby got the win in relief as Berry defeated Oglethorpe, 6-5, on Sunday.

The Vikings--which took Sunday's rubber game and the series--improved to 8-4 and 2-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. Oglethorpe dropped to 5-5 and 1-2.

Grant Perkins also collected two hits for BC. Joey Bell started for the Vikes and allowed three runs before Busby hurled the last five frames. He allowed two runs, scattered five hits, struck out three and had no walks.

Nick Stidham hit a solo home run for the visitors to lead off the fourth inning. Berry would add four more unearned runs in the inning and never relinquished the lead.

The Stormy Petrels outhit BC, 12-11. OU had five players record two hits in the contest.

The Vikings play at LaGrange on Tuesday.
