Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Berry College softball team split a doubleheader on Saturday at Huntingdon College. The Vikings took game one, 15-3, but lost the nightcap, 3-1.
The first game was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. The Vikes scored seven runs in the second and fourth frames en route to the win. Huntingdon was felled by six errors and gave up ten unearned runs in the contest.
Freshman Brittany Ferrell went 4-5 with a double and two runs batted in. Abby Daniels went 3-3 with a double, triple and three RBI. Shelby Smith was 3-3 with two doubles and three RBI.
Freshman Kayla Davis scattered five hits and allowed three runs. She improved to 2-0 on the year.
In the second game, BC fell 3-1. Trailing 3-0, Daniels doubled home Sarah Moore in the fourth inning for the Vikings' lone tally. Daniels went 3-3 for the second straight game. For the day, she was 6-6 with two doubles a triple and four RBI.
Allie Coronado (1-1) took the defeat for Berry. She pitched the first two frames, and allowed two runs. Andrea Cole gave up one run and scattered six hits in the last four innings.
The Vikings left Alabama with a 6-2 record. HC is now 4-3.
Berry plays at Piedmont College on Wednesday.
