Box Score 2 ROME, Ga. -- Berry College defeated Covenant by scores of 17-1 and 4-1 on Saturday. The Vikings improved to 4-0 and the Scots dropped to 0-2.
BC took game one in five innings due to the mercy rule. Berry scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back. Sara Vigue went 2-2 with a triple and 4 RBI to lead the Viking offense. Sarah Moore, Abby Daniels and Haley Smith all collected two hits for the home team.
Andrea Cole (2-0) pitched all five innings, scattered eight hits and got the win.
In the nightcap, the Vikings got off to another good start as Berry tallied two runs in the first inning. Ally Claytor went 3-4 with one run and one RBI. Shelby Smith and Kayla Davis collected two hits apiece for BC.
Davis, a freshman, pitched a complete game, allowed seven hits an earned her first collegiate win.
Berry plays at LaGrange on Wednesday.
