Volleyball season ends in five sets to Centre

CONWAY, Arkansas -- Emily Stromberg had a double-double with 19 kills and 16 digs, but Berry College lost to Centre College, 3-2, in the SAA quarterfinals on Friday night. Set scores were 17-25, 25-20, 14-25, 25-21, 15-13.

The Vikings' season ends with a 16-15 overall record. The Colonels (14-16) advance to face top-seeded Hendrix on Saturday.

Berry outhit the Colonels .230 to .095. Stromberg's 19 kills were a match-high and she hit .400. Katie O'Rourke and Anna Keappler notched 13 and 10 kills respectively. Lauren Schmitz dished 49 assists and Katie Truluck added 21 digs for BC.

"I was really proud of how hard we fought all the way through tonight's match. We played with heart and relentlessness," said Berry Head Coach Mika Robinson. "Unfortunately, we made a few too many errors at critical times."

For Centre, Suzanne Asbury recorded 13 kills. The Colonels had six service errors to the Vikings' 14.
