Box Score 2 ATLANTA -- Berry College closed out regular season play with two wins on Saturday at the Emory Invitational. The Vikings prevailed over Washington & Lee and UMASS Boston, both were 3-0 shutouts.
In the first match, the Vikings swept W&L 25-14, 25-12, 25-21. Katie O'Rourke spiked a match-best 13 kills, hit .522 and added two blocks for Berry. Anna Keappler notched 10 kills and Lauren Schmitz dished 39 assists for the Vikings.
W&L dropped to 24-5. Anna Lausberg recorded nine kills for the Generals.
In the second match, BC swept UMASS Boston 25-12, 25-13, 26-24. Emily Stromberg had a match-best 12 kills in the victory. Keappler and O'Rourke tacked on 12 and 11 kills respectively. Katie Truluck added 14 digs for BC.
UMASS Boston fell to 20-10 after the defeat. Elizabeth Glenn recoded a match-high 20 digs for the Beacons.
O'Rourke and Stromberg were tabbed to the Emory Tournament team.
"We played another complete game this afternoon and beat a very good UMASS Boston team," said Head Coach Mika Robinson. "This was a great way to finish the regular season and head into the conference tournament."
The Vikings are now 16-14 and will finish the season with a winning record.
Berry plays Centre in the quarterfinal round of the SAA Tournament on Friday in Conway, Arkansas at 8 p.m.
