SEWANEE, Tennessee -- The Berry College women's volleyball defeated Sewanee, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-17.
Berry improved to 13-10 and 8-2 in Southern Athletic Association play. Sewanee dropped to 5-14 and 1-7.
Katie O'Rourke had a match-best 17 kills on the day. Emily Stromberg (15 kills, 17 digs) and Anna Keappler (12, 10) also helped sparked the Vikings' victory with double digit kills and digs.
After losing their third set, 23-25, the Vikings rallied back to win the fourth set 25-17, taking the match.
Lauren Schmitz had 42 assists on the day, contributing in many ways as well. Schmitz also had ten digs and two kills for the Vikings.
Katie Truluck kept the defense alive with 12 digs also.
For Sewanee, Jamie Sue Wilson had 12 kills in the loss.
"Getting a second conference win on the road was a good way to end the week," said Berry Head Coach Mika Robinson. "We look forward to a couple of days off for fall break, and then getting back to work on Tuesday."
-The win was the third straight for the Vikings.
-Stromberg's double-double for kills and digs was her eighth of the year.
The Vikings host Hendrix in their next match on Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m.
