Berry wins at Agnes Scott, 5-0

DECATUR, Georgia -- Maggie Midkiff and Celia Dann both had a goal and an assist as Berry College won at Agnes Scott College, 5-0, on Wednesday.

The Vikings improved to 7-2 after earning its seventh shutout of the season. The Scotties dropped to 2-5.

Bella Fornuto recorded an unassisted goal in the 26th minute to open the game's scoring. About ten minutes later, Lauren Sykora tallied off an assist from Midkiff. The score remained 2-0 at the break.

The Vikings used a five minute span--from the 66th to 71st minute mark--to break the game open.

In the 66th minute, Dann assisted Midkiff to push the margin to 3-0. Three minutes later, Sara Dillon notched a goal off a pass from Ashley Moulton. At the 70:25 mark, Dann closed the game's scoring off an assist from Chandler Maddox.

Berry had a big edge in shots (31-2) and  corner kicks (12-1). Jackie McGivney played all 90 minutes, made one save, and earned the shutout.

"Today's game was a good team effort," said BC Head Coach Lorenzo Canalis. "I was pleased by the way we kept and moved the ball. We did so with few touches and effective movement."

For Agnes Scott, Ivy McIntire recorded 15 saves in the defeat.

The Vikings return to Southern Athletic Association play on Saturday. Oglethorpe visits Ford Field for a 3 p.m. game on Mountain Day.
