Box Score ROME, Ga. -- Tenth-ranked Emory University defeated Berry College, 2-0, in women's soccer action at Ford Field on Sunday.
Berry, which had a four-match win streak stopped, dropped to 6-2. The visiting Eagles improved to 4-2-1.
Emory tallied in the eighth minute. Lauren Gorodetsky headed-in a corner kick from Charlotte Butker on the scoring play. The Eagles maintained a 1-0 at halftime.
In the 82nd minute, Cristina Ramirez added an insurance goal for the visitors. She booted in a ball which deflected off Berry goalkeeper Melissa Sanchez (seven saves).
Emory led in shots (18-7) and corner kicks (6-2). Maggie Midkiff and Kim Fischer collected three shots apiece for the Vikings.
"I was pleased with our effort today, but irked by the result," said Berry Head coach Lorenzo Canalis.
Berry plays at Tennessee Temple University, an NAIA opponent, on Tuesday.
