Box Score ATLANTA – Berry College scored two second-half goals at Emory University on Saturday afternoon en-route to a 2-0 win. Kyle Fitting and Zak Wallingford tallied in the road victory.
Berry improved to 3-4-1 and Emory dropped to 5-3-0 on the season.
Berry got on the board just four minutes into the start of the second half, when Fitting deflected a shot off an Emory defender and past keeper Abe Hannigan for his first goal of the season. Samer Hajmurad earned the assist on a free kick he directed to Fitting.
The Vikings scored again in the 81st minute when Wallingford scored his third goal of the season to secure the victory. On the play, David Shaw passed a ball to the far side to an unmarked Wallingford, who headed-in BC's second goal.
The Eagles outshot the Vikings, 18-8. Emory led in corner kicks, 12-2. Emory put pressure on the Berry defense late. Logan Hill had six saves and got help from his back line with two late team saves. Hannigan recorded three saves for Emory.
"This was a fun game in the rain," said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. "It was a good, even battle. We had good moments and withstood some periods of pressure. This was a great time to get a big road win and shutout before conference."
Berry hosts Reinhardt on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Ford Field.
