SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Berry College defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor (3-1) and lost to Hardin-Simmons (3-2) to close out play at the Trinity National Tournament on Saturday.
Set scores vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor were 24-26, 29-27, 20-25, and 17-25.
Anna Keappler netted 18 kills along with 17 digs. Keappler also held the highest kill percentage (.390) of the game. Emily Stromberg added 18 kills and 14 digs. Katie Truluck recorded a team-high 21 digs for Berry. In addition, Gretchen Kaufman posted 5 blocks.
MHB's Sarah Toler had 17 kills while Kendra Feldmann recorded 23 digs.
"We couldn't have asked for better preparation going into conference play next weekend. We played four quality opponents who pushed us to improve, and I'm proud of how we finished with a solid win over a very good Mary Hardin-Baylor team," said Berry Head Coach Mika Robinson.
In the earlier match, BC lost to Hardin-Simmons by scores of 19-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 15-8.
Stephanie Quinn--who was selected to the all-tournament team--had 45 assists and 20 digs for Berry. Stromberg added 14 kills and 14 digs. Truluck recorded a team-best 22 digs.
Berry (6-3) hosts Sewanee at 7 p.m. on Friday.
