Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Dusty Tyson went 3-4 at the plate, but Rhodes College defeated Berry College, 6-3, on Saturday. Coupled with an earlier loss to Birmingham-Southern, the Vikings were eliminated from the Southern Athletic Association Championships.

BC ends its year at 18-24. Rhodes, which needs to win two games over BSC on Sunday to advance to next weekend's championship series, is now 22-20.

Tyson recorded his first triple of the year and had one RBI. Kevin Scott went 2-2 and Doug Heath blasted a solo home run for Berry.

Ben Jernigan started for the Vikings. He pitched 4.1 innings, allowed four runs (two earned) and six hits. Carter Reese hurled a perfect eighth inning for BC.

Earlier in the day, Berry and host BSC played a winner's bracket game. The Panthers won the contest, 10-1.

Viking starter Christian Champion (1-3) took the defeat. He was felled by three unearned runs. Berry had five errors in the game.

Grant Perkins and Tyson each had two hits for BC.

In the third inning Berry plated its lone run. Tyson singled home Alex McGill--who had doubled down the left-field line—for the tally.

Jake Campbell collected three of BSC's 15 hits.
