Berry Dropped Game at Birmingham-Southern

Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alex McGill hit an early home run to give Berry a lead, but Birmingham-Southern rebounded with a 10-1 win on Friday night.

Berry dropped to 16-21 and 12-7 in the Southern Athletic Association. BSC improved to 26-12, 15-4.

McGill led off the second inning with a homer. The long ball to left-center field was his first HR of the season. That would be the only hit, and run, the Vikings would record in the game.

The Panthers scored single runs in three innings, before plating seven runs in the seventh frame.

Casey Gray (4-4) took the defeat for BC. He pitched six innings and allowed three runs (two earned). BSC's Kyle Royalty (4-2) allowed McGill's home run but earned the win.

Jacob Mayfield went 3-5 with two doubles, a run and two RBI to lead Panther batters.

The teams play the second of three scheduled games on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
