Box Score 2 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Berry College swept at Birmingham-Southern by scores of 4-3 and 3-0 on Tuesday night.
The Vikings improved to 25-9 and 17-5 in the Southern Athletic Association. BSC fell to 23-13 and 14-6 in conference.
In game one, Berry held off a late Panther rally for the 4-3 win. The Vikings never trailed in the contest. Berry plated two runs in the top of the seventh inning to hold a 4-1 lead with BSC coming to its final at-bat.
The Panthers tallied two runs and held a 4-3 lead with the bases loaded. Allison Coronado, however, got Katleyn Murray to fly out to right fielder Shelby Smith for the game's final out.
Coronado got the win and improved to 9-4. She allowed two earned runs, four hits and struck out four hitters.
The Vikes outhit the home club, 10-5. Sara Vigue went 2-4 with a triple and two runs batted in. Abby Daniels was 2-4 with a double and two RBI. Jessica Washington collected two singles for Berry.
Joanna Jernigan recorded two hits for the Panthers in the defeat.
In the nightcap, Washington scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning. That was all the offense BC needed, but the visitors added two more runs in the sixth inning.
Caillee Shamoun (10-3) tossed a two-hit shutout as Berry won its 25th game, tying last year's team for most wins in program history.
Kristen Stoll and Lacey Herring both had two hits in the game.
The Vikings are slated to host LaGrange on Friday for senior day. The first game of the doubleheader starts at 3 p.m.
