Vikings Fall to Colonels on Senior Day

ROME, Ga. – Berry could not overcome a 7-0 deficit as it fell, 9-3, against Centre on Senior Day at William R. Bowdoin Field.

Berry dropped to 15-19 overall and 12-6 in Southern Athletic Association play. Centre upped its record to 11-20 and 5-13.

Before first pitch, Berry acknowledge eight seniors playing in their final home game: Levi Austin, Josh Dilbeck, Aaron Epp, Casey Gray, Brandyn Jackson, TJ Page, Carter Reese and Jonathan Stump. (To read the senior day script, click HERE.)

Centre jumped out on Berry left-hander Ryan O'Connell (1-5) for two quick runs in the first after two fielding errors and led 7-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh. O'Connell pitched four and two-thirds innings and allowed five runs (three earned).

Berry got on the board in the seventh with three runs as Michael Whatley and Nick Stidham both had run-scoring hits.

Centre right-hander Kyle Neu (4-3) pitched a complete game for the seventh time in eight starts this season. He gave up seven hits and three runs (all earned) in nine frames of work.

Austin Neely picked up two hits for Berry. Centre had six players collect two hits apiece: Same Spees, Trey Litsey, Jake Johnson, Kyle Cook, Nick Forte and Jacob Pike.

Berry will play the remainder of its regular season schedule on the road, starting with a Tuesday afternoon matchup with Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
