ROME, Ga. – Berry's baseball team snapped its four-game losing streak as it took two games from Centre on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 10-0 and 5-4 at William R. Bowdoin Field. Ben Jernigan drove in the winning run with a two-out walk-off RBI single in the nightcap.

Berry improved to 15-18 overall and 12-5 in Southern Athletic Association matchups. Centre fell to 10-20 and 4-13.

In game one, Berry rode Casey Gray's (4-3) pitching and a six-run eighth inning to defeat Centre.

Gray threw an eight-inning, eight-hit shutout for his second complete game of the season. Centre's Joe Nash (4-4) was charged with the loss after he lasted six innings and gave up three runs (two earned).

Stephen Gaylor and Austin Neely both had three hits apiece for Berry. Aaron Ammann notched two hits for Centre.

In game two, Berry again led early, but Centre tied the game, 4-4, with a three-run fifth inning. The game came down to the final at-bat.

With Grant Perkins on second base, Jernigan singled to center and Perkins slid in well ahead of the throw to the plate for the winning run.

Christian Champion (1-1) earned the win for Berry in relief and tossed two scoreless frames. Trey Litsey (1-3) took the loss and went one and two-third innings.

Gaylor totaled three RBIs, and Will Heard and Jernigan both picked up two hits apiece for Berry. Jake Johnson drove in two runs for Centre.

The two teams will complete this three-game series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. This matchup marks the final home game on Berry's regular season schedule and will also be Senior Day.
