Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. – TC Boyd went 2-3 at the plate, but Berry College lost at Emory, 3-1, on Tuesday.
The Vikings dropped to 12-12 for the campaign with the loss. Emory, which won its fourth straight, is now 12-9.
Berry tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch from reliever Matt McMahon. Yet a strike out looking ended the frame and prevented the go-ahead run from scoring.
The Eagles wasted little time regaining the lead though, scoring two in the bottom of the inning when Iturrey drove in Wes Peacock (2-4) with a ground-out, and Brandon Hannon crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
McMahon picked up the win, improving to 2-2 on the season, while Bloomsmith secured his third save of the season by retiring the Berry side in order in the ninth. Senior reliever Levi Austin took the loss for the Vikings, dropping to 0-2 for the year.
The Vikings return to Southern Athletic Association play later this week at Rhodes College. Berry plays a doubleheader on Thursday in Memphis, Tenn.
