Men's soccer edges Centre in double overtime, 1-0

Box Score

ROME, Ga. – J.T. Kieffer scored in the second overtime as Berry College defeated Centre College, 1-0, at Ford Field on Saturday. Matt Majestic earned the assist on the scoring play for BC.

The Vikings improved to 5-4-1 and 1-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Colonels dropped to 5-3-2 and 0-1.

Berry and Centre have developed quite a rivalry. The Colonels handed BC its only SAA setback last year, 1-0. The Vikings returned the favor by winning the conference championship on penalty kicks last November.

In the first half, both teams had four shots. After that, however, BC dominated possession and scoring chances. For the match, Berry outshot  CC (15-8) and led in corner kicks (8-3).

The Colonels had just one shot on goal, which occurred in the 83rd minute. Logan Hill had one save and earned the win. Ohan Misrian-Dill took the defeat but recorded four stops for the visitors.

"Overall, we played well against a very good team," said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We really turned it on in the second half. I thought we were the better team and deserved the victory."

Berry plays at Hendrix next Friday night.
