Women's Soccer Comes up Short at Centre, 2-0

DANVILLE, Ky. - Berry College traveled to Centre College for its first SAA game on Saturday night. The Colonels defeated the Vikings 2-0.

Berry dropped to 2-5 and 0-1. Centre improved to 9-0 and 1-0.

Centre edged Berrry in shots, 10-8. Blair Shupenko made six saves for BC. Shupenko made her first start in goal for the Vikings. She was called in from her midfield position to replace injured Brooke Clement. 

The Colonels got on the scoreboard in the 36th minute. Mariah Pohl scored on a header off a pass from Mary Taylor Kersey. The halftime score was 1-0.

Centre pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute when Alex Combs tallied unassisted on a long shot outside the box.

Sara Dillon led the Berry offense. She had two shots, both of which were on goal.

The Vikings host SAA rival Rhodes on Friday. The 2 p.m start helps kick off the Berry Mountain Day Celebration.
