DANVILLE, Ky. – Despite winning the first set, Berry (8-3) fell to Centre (2-7) in five sets in a Saturday afternoon match. Scores were 25-20, 23-25, 18-25, 25-20 and 8-15.
Junior Stephanie Quinn paced Berry with 40 assists while transfer Anna Keappler had 13 kills. Senior Jenn Tinnell picked up 15 digs.
"We keep saying that ball control is key to our success, and it was really streaky today, both serving and passing," said Berry head coach Mika Robinson. "Credit Centre for staying composed in the final run. We will learn a great deal from this match as we move forward in the conference."
Berry will have its home opener next Friday against Hendrix at 7 p.m. This will mark the start of eight consecutive home matches for the team.
