Berry's Trent Hillis tossed six-and-two-thirds shutout innings and Thomas Johnson and Cason Dremann collected four hits apiece to lead Berry to a 7-0 victory at Emory Tuesday.

Neither team recorded an extra base hit in the game, but the Vikings were able to string together enough offense to give Hillis and three relievers plenty of latitude.

Berry scored its first run when Stephen Gaylor darted home on a wild pitch in the first inning. That 1-0 lead would stand until the fifth inning, when Kevin Scott delivered a two-out single that scored Dremann and Johnson.

Three more Berry runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning. Christian Champion's ground ball scored Brandyn Jackson with nobody out. Later in the inning, Johnson and Dremann delivered back-to-back RBI singles to make the score 6-0.

Austin Neely finished the scoring in the eighth when his ground ball scored Champion from third base.

Hillis struck out six batters while allowing six hits and walking a pair of batters. He was removed with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Reliever Carter Reese would get the first batter he faced, Emory's Brett Lake, to ground into a fielder's choice to end the inning.

The Eagles would not threaten again against Reese or bullpen mates Levi Austin or Josh Dilbeck.

Berry's four hurlers combined to strike out 11 batters while walking just three. The bullpen did not surrender a hit.

The Vikings are scheduled to return to action Thursday when they host Maryville at 3 p.m.
