Berry's women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over Piedmont Thursday at Richards Tennis Courts.

The Lady Vikings swept the three doubles matches and took the top five singles contests.

In doubles play, Jenn Tinnell and Alex Sanguily cruised past Chelsea Prince and Meghan Smith 8-1 in the top position, while the tandem of Caitlin Smith and Rachel Sandoval defeated Morgan Reed and Katie Sailors 8-4, and Keri McGinnis and Ali Jackson topped Lauren Anderson and Ashley Fannon 8-6 in the third slot.

Tinnell and McGinnis each won their singles matches by 6-1, 6-0 scores, with Tinnell defeating Sailors in the No. 1 position and McGinnins beating Reed in the fourth position.  In the second slot, Sanguily defeated Prince 6-2, 6-3 while the battle of the Smiths was won by Caitlin Smith, who defeated Meghan Smith 6-2, 6-2 in the third position.  Berry's final point was claimed by Sandoval, who defeated Anderson in a pro set, 8-2, in the fifth position.

Piedmont's lone point came in the sixth singles slot, where Fannon defeated Lib Lockett, playing in her first match, 6-0, 6-1.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Friday when it hosts Emmanuel at 3 p.m.
