Berry's women's tennis team swept the top five singles matches and added a doubles win en route to a 6-3 victory over Covenant Tuesday in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
Berry trailed 2-1 heading into the singles portion of play after its top team of Jenn Tinnell and Alex Sanguily picked up the Lady Vikings' lone doubles point with an 8-1 win over Madeline Hyatt and Sarah Carter. But Berry won five singles matches in straight sets to seal the win.
Tinnell and Sanguily picked up singles wins in the top two slots, with Tinnell defeating Hyatt 6-1, 6-4 and Sanquily topping Gretchen Rowe 6-0, 6-2. Caitlin Smith earned a win over Sarah Carter in the third position by a score of 6-2, 6-0, while Maggie MacDonald defeated Stephanie Sizemore 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth slot and Keri McGinnis defeated Anne Marie Rowe 6-5, 6-2 in the fifth position.
Berry returns to action March 29 against Piedmont in its first home match of the year, which will kick off a five-match homestand.
