Berry's women's tennis team picked up straight sets victories in each of the top four singles positions and earned wins in the top two doubles slots en route to a 6-3 victory over Piedmont Tuesday in Berry's 2012 season opener in Demorest, Ga.

Jenn Tinnell, Alex Sanguily, Caitlin Smith and Maggie MacDonald all won in straight sets for the Lady Vikings.  Tinnell defeated Katie Sailors 7-5, 6-2; Sanguily defeated Chelsea Prince 6-1, 6-0; Smith defeated Meghan Smith 6-1, 7-5 and MacDonald handed Maria Carter a 6-0, 7-5 loss.

Those wins came on the heels of Berry victories in two of the three doubles matches.  Tinnell and Sanguily took care of Prince and Sailors 8-4 in the No. 1 position, and Smith and MacDonald teamed up to defeat Smith and Morgan Reed 8-1.

The Lady Vikings are scheduled to return to action Friday at Emmanuel.
