Jonathan Surls earned wins in both singles and doubles action for Berry's men's tennis team, but Piedmont defeated the Vikings 7-2 Tuesday in Demorest, Ga., in Berry's 2012 season opener.

Surls teamed up with Logan Yerbey to defeat Piedmont's Moses Das and Patrick Steck 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles position. Surls then went on to defeat Joel Silverberg in a tiebreaker by the score of 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7). 

Those would be Berry's lone wins of the afternoon, though, as Piedmont would take 2-of-3 doubles matches and 5-of-6 singles matches.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Friday at Emmanuel.
