Men's Soccer Holds Off Millsaps, 2-1

Box Score

JACKSON, Miss. -- Berry College closed its weekend road trip with a 2-1 win at Millsaps College on Sunday. The Vikings return home in second place in the Southern Athletic Association, one half game behind Centre College with one game left to play.

Berry improved to 11-3-1 and 4-1-1 in SAA play. Millsaps dropped to 5-8-2 and 2-3-1.

The Vikings posted two early goals and held off a late charge by the Majors. Caleb Lucas scored both times for the visitors. Josh Hughes earned the assist of Berry's first tally.

"We had several other chances to score, but it stayed 2-0 at the half," said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. "Millsaps scored on PK midway through second half to make a nervous last period of the game. Yet we played well and deserved the win."

The Vikings close SAA regular season play next Saturday when Oglethorpe visits for a 1 p.m. match. It's also men's soccer senior day.
