Maryville Tops Vikings in Three Close Sets Tuesday

Scots defeat Berry 25-23, 25-23, 25-23 in Maryville, Tenn., Tuesday.

Berry's Meredith Hopper and Claire Scott recorded nine kills apiece, but Maryville edged the Vikings in three close sets in Maryville, Tenn., Tuesday.  Set scores were 25-23, 25-23, 25-23.

Kristin Hargrove led Berry (8-9) with nine digs, while Stephanie Quinn talled 25 assists, seven digs, five kills and four service aces.

Maryville (10-5) was led by Kristin Findley's match high 13 kills. 

Neither team hit exceptionally well Tuesday, as Maryville finished with a .167 attacking percentage (37 kills, 19 errors, 108 attempts) and Berry recorded a .114 mark (32 kills, 19 errors, 114 attempts). 

Quinn's .364 attacking percentage (5 kills, 1 error, 11 attempts) was the highest by a Berry player in the match. Findley's .290 mark (13-4-31) was the best percentage by a Maryville player with at least 10 attack attempts.

The Vikings return to action Friday at 7 p.m., when they host Clark Atlanta on Parents Night at the Cage Center.
