Birmingham-Southern Defeats Vikings 9-3

ROME, Ga. - Birmingham-Southern hit a trio of home runs and broke open a 4-3 game with a four run seventh inning en route to a 9-3 victory over Berry at William R. Bowdoin Field Tuesday.

Birmingham-Southern collected 13 hits in the game, 11 of which came from the second through sixth batters in the order.  Drew Leachman, Sam Hill, Brandon Ricco and Bryan Higginbotham all had two hits, and Bruce Maxwell went 3-for-5 for the Panthers.  Leachman, Ricco and Walker all hit home runs.

Cason Dremann led Berry at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance.  Dremann, Austin Neely and Zach Farmer all drove in runs for the Vikings. 

BSC starter Michael McCalib (2-1) earned the victory.  He allowed three runs on five hits in five innings.  Richard Vance, who came on in relief to start the sixth inning, earned his second save with four shutout innings.

Berry starter Casey Gray (3-3) took the loss.  He allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings.

The Vikings are scheduled to return to action Friday at 2 p.m., when they host a doubleheader against Tennessee Temple.
