ROME, Ga. - Claire Scott recorded a match-high nine kills to lead Berry to a three-set victory over visiting Faulkner on Senior Night at the Cage Center. Set scores were 25-19, 25-18, 25-19.
In an opening set that featured four lead changes, the Vikings came out on top, courtesy of a Meredith Hopper kill to end the set. The second set saw the Vikings rally from a five-point deficit to claim the win. With the crowd standing in support, Hopper again delivered the final kill, sending Vikings fans home happy.
Stephanie Quinn had a match-high 28 assists for the Vikings. Kristin Hargrove led everyone with 16 digs, while Quinn, Hopper and Scott each had 13.
The match marked the final appearance in a Berry uniform for Scott and fellow senior Kiersten Hammock.
"These two seniors have been such incredible role models for this young team," Berry coach Mika Robinson said. "I couldn't be prouder of their leadership, and I'm thrilled we were able to send them out on a win."
Morgan Wilson dished out12 assists for Faulkner while Neysa Hernandez led the Eagles with 14 kills.
Berry's defense forced Faulkner into more attacking errors (26) than kills (25) in the match, marking the first time this season that Berry held an opponent to a negative attacking percentage.
The win gave the Vikings a 16-14 record to end the season.
Notes: Scott and Hammock were acknowledged with individual plaques before the final match of their college careers. Hammock was a two-year starter at middle blocker. Scott was a four-year starter at outside hitter…Quinn was also acknowledged before the match for reaching 2,000 career assists on Oct. 25 against Covenant College. She became only the third player in Berry volleyball history to reach the feat – as a true sophomore…Berry head coach Mika Robinson has now led the Vikings to winning seasons in all four of her seasons at the school.
