Box Score Scott Leads Berry With 14 Kills, But BSC Wins 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19
Berry's Claire Scott tied for match-high honors with 14 kills, but the Vikings dropped a non-conference volleyball match to tournament host Birmingham-Southern in four close sets Friday evening at the BSC Panther Fall Invitational.
Set scores were 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19.
Berry rallied from a pair of 10-point deficits to win the second set. Trailing 13-3 in that frame, the Vikings charged back with a 15-5 run to tie the set at 18 points apiece. BSC would regain the advantage and served with a 23-21 lead, but two kills by Scott and a pair of Panthers hitting errors gave the Vikes four consecutive points to close out the set.
Scott also picked up 21 digs to go with her 14 kills in the match, making her one of four Berry players with double figures in the dig column. Kristin Hargrove led the Vikings with 23 digs, while Sarah Steffan added 13 digs and nine kills and Stephanie Quinn tallied 10 digs to go with her 37 assists.
Alex Bothe led three Panthers in double figures with 14 kills. Kelly Foster added 12 and Shelby Moore chipped in 11. Presley Dickson led all players with 26 digs.
Berry returns to action Saturday, facing Spring Hill and Susquehanna on the final day of the tournament.
