Box Score 2 ROME, Ga. -- The Berry College softball team swept a conference doubleheader on Saturday. The Vikings won game one, 4-0, and then took the second game, 8-0, in five innings.
The Vikings improved to 11-5 and 4-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Lynx fell to 1-13-1 and 0-4-1.
In the opener, Berry plated 3 runs in the first inning and cruised to the win. Sarah Moore had an RBI double in the first inning and Marie Collop hit a solo home run in the fifth to lead the BC offense.
Allie Coronado earned the complete game shutout and moved to 3-1 for the year. She allowed 4 hits and had one strikeout.
In the nightcap, Kassie Howard earned the shutout in the 5-inning 8-0 win for Berry. She moved to 7-1 for the season, allowed just one hit and struck out 4 batters.
The Vikings tallied 2 runs in the first 4 innings. Moore, Kylie Aiken and Allison DeBusk all had 2 hits apiece for the home team. Elizabeth Fedirici knocked a home run for Berry.
The teams play another doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch is 12 p.m. at Ford Field.
