Located 70 miles between Chattanooga, Tenn. and Atlanta, Ga. and in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Rome is the largest city in and the county seat of Floyd County, Georgia, boasting a population of 35,973. The city has developed on seven hills with three rivers running between them, a feature that inspired the early founders to name it for Rome, the longtime capital of Italy.
The Berry College Clara Bowl serves as host to everything from carnivals, outdoor movies, concerts and top-level cross country competition. The scenic 6k and 8k courses weave through some of the most iconic spots on Berry's 27,000 acre campus including the Ford Complex which serves as the start and finish for both courses. The Berry Clara Bowl also served as host to the 2016 Cross Country Regionals.
