Stephanie Dunn was named the head women's basketball coach at Berry College in December, 2009.
In 2016, the women's basketball team finished 8-18 on the year under Dunn's guidance. Dunn also coached three players to All-Southern Athletic Association Honorable Mention Team honors, as well as 10 players to spots on the All-SAA Honor Roll.
Dunn led the Berry College women's basketball team to one of their most successful seasons to date during their 2015 season. Leading her team to an 18-9 overall record, as well as a 9-5 finish in the SAA, Dunn coached her team to an SAA semifinal game for the second year in a row, helping three players earn All-SAA honors as well.
An All-SAA first team pick for three years in a row under Dunn, Chanlir Segarra was also named a CoSIDA Academic All-American during the 2015 campaign, excelling both on and off the basketball court under Dunn's leadership.
The Vikings went 14-13 in 2013-14 and advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament.
In her first two seasons on the Berry sideline, Dunn led the Lady Vikings to 14-11 and 13-11 campaigns. Entering 2012-13, she has a career record of 48-50 as Berry becomes a full NCAA Division III member.
She came to Berry after serving as the head coach at Saint Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta, where she compiled a 170-34 record and led her teams to state championships in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
A head coach since 2002, Dunn captured numerous awards during her tenure at St. Pius X. She earned Georgia High School Coach of the Year accolades in each of her title-winning seasons and was named Region Coach of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. She also claimed Metro Atlanta Coach of the Year honors in 2007.
Dunn began her career as a journalism teacher at Yeshiva Atlanta High School. She also taught at St. Peter Claver Regional Catholic School, where she got her first job as an assistant coach. In addition to being head girls' basketball coach at Saint Pius X, she also served as assistant athletics director and associate admissions director.
Dunn holds a bachelor's degree in consumer journalism from the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the 1995 team that advanced to the NCAA Final Four. Before earning a scholarship to UGA, Dunn enjoyed an outstanding career at Stephens County High School in Toccoa, finishing as the school's top scorer and competing in both the North/South Georgia All-Star Game and the Georgia/Tennessee All-Star Game. Coach Dunn completed her Master's of education in teaching and learning from Liberty University.
"Playing at the University of Georgia and participating in the 1995 Final Four has helped me to have high expectations of myself and my players," Dunn said.
The new coach was drawn to Berry by its strong academic reputation and the size of the institution. She was excited about relocating to the Rome community, where her husband, Keith, played basketball for Shorter College.
"Berry has everything I was looking for, from the athletics to the community to the academic environment," Dunn said.
Dunn and her husband, Keith, have two daughters, Kara and Layla.
