ROME, Ga.—The Berry College Track & Field Teams are set to compete this Friday and Saturday in the Emory Invitational at Emory University in Atlanta. Events begin at 2 p.m. on Friday.
"This will be a great meet for us coming off of the home meet," said Head Coach Luke Syverson. "It will be a bigger meet with a lot of competition for all of our athletes, giving our top athletes a lot of competition at the top and the other athletes good competition from like-sized schools."
It is going to be great to be able to see the 10,000m runners be able to kick off their season, especially after all of the time trials we have been running. On the throws,Alexa Bilsky is at the top of the field in the Javelin, and Alyssa Maker is set to have a lot of competition in the Hammer Throw. We have a lot of opportunity for our 4x100m and 4x400m relays to set new school records, especially after lowering the times at our home meet."
Eli Sumner is feeling stronger after the strain in his hamstring at Sewanee, and will be looking to benefit from the meet in the men's pole vault. Alainna Chretien is entered in the 1500m, and after her 5000m last week, and we are looking for a quick opening time. We have three women in the 3000m steeplechase:Danielle Ferro, Molly Horton and Violet Keys. Ferro is a returning all-conference team member and current school record holder, and Keys is coming in for her second steeple of the year after a strong debut. It will be exciting to see how Horton does in her debut at Emory," shared Syverson.
