BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Berry College swimming and diving teams added four top three finishes on Friday, as the Vikings continued competition at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championships.
The women were paced by second place finishes by Josie Hadaway in the 100-yard butterfly (57.69), Haley Brown in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.55) and Sydney Ragsdale in the 100-yard backstroke (58.97). Audrey Burch also posted a strong swim in the 400-yard IM, earning a fifth place finish with a time of 4:45.40. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Micaela Campagna finished fourth with a time of 1:08.66 while Cedar Hawks followed Ragsdale in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.37, earning fifth. The women's team is currently in 4th place overall with 437 points and trailing Centre College by only 1 point.
On the men's team, Dylan White led the pack with a bronze medal in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 51.51. Strong swims also came from Mac Stovall who earned fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:44.20. Cole Beddingfield and Spencer O'Neale each earned top 10 finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (52.17) and the 400-yard IM (4:23.29) respectively. The men's team is also in 4th, trailing Rhodes by just 7.5 points.
The SAA Championships continue on Saturday with preliminary events starting at 10 a.m. at the Birmingham CrossPlex Natatorium.
