Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest at U. of New England

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Maria Walsh scored in the 81st minute, but the Berry women's soccer team fell to the Univ. of New England 4-2 to close their opening-weekend trip. 

The Vikings fall to 1-1-0 on the year, while the Univ. of New England improved to 1-0-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Berry surrendered an early goal to Katie Beaudoin in the 11th minute
  • Kirbi Mathews answered off an assist from Vanessa Belancer in the 42nd minute to tie the game
  • The Univ. of New England then scored a trio of goals within three minutes in the second half to take a 4-1 lead. 
  • Walsh's late goal cut the deficit, but Berry could not complete the comeback.
