Women's Soccer Felled by Emory

Rome, Ga. — Tori Shonk scored for Berry College, but the Vikings lost to visiting Emory, 3-1, on Sunday.

The Eagles improved to 6-2, while the Vikes dropped to 3-3-1.

Emory's Melinda Altamore converted a penalty kick to give Emory a lead in the 14th minute. It stayed 1-0 at the break.

Berry equalized in the 56th minute. Michaela Routh assisted Shonk on the goal. Her pass found an unmarked Shonk who blasted the ball past goalkeeper Liz Annold (two saves).

The Eagles, however, responded with goals by Christina Ramriez at 76:26 and 81:28 for the final margin.

The Eagles outshot the Vikings 17-4 and had all of the match's three corner kicks.

Melissa Sanchez recorded seven saves for BC.

The Vikings will be on the road for their next game against Oglethorpe on Saturday at 3 p.m.
