Women's Lacrosse Drops Spring Break Tilt at Southern Virginia

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Berry College women's lacrosse team fell to Southern Virginia University on Tuesday afternoon 16-3. The loss drops Berry's record to 1-7 on the year. 

Ashley Merritt led the way offensively, scoring a pair of goals on five shots, putting three on cage. Ella Makin recorded 12 saves in goal, facing 22 shots. 

Southern Virginia took control early, jumping out to a 7-0 lead. Merritt tallied with just over nine minutes to play in the first half, but the Vikings trailed 10-1 at the half. Berry was outscored 6-2 in the second half. 

Berry will travel to Roanoke on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
