WEST POINT, Ga. — The Berry College women's lacrosse team opened the 2019 season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Point University 15-8.
Berry was led offensively by Ashley Merritt who scored four goals and fired six total shots on frame. Tyler Mae Stempien, Maddie Yokeley, Cydney Maddox and Miranda Smith also scored for the Vikings. Ella Makin recorded 13 saves in goal.
Point led 8-4 at the half, out-shooting Berry 22-8 in the opening period. The Vikings struggled on clears, securing just 18-of-33 for the contest. When given opportunities, the Vikings were 5-for-9 on free position shots.
