ROME, Ga. – Point tallied twice with less than 10 minutes to play, as the Berry College women’s lacrosse team dropped a defensive bout to the Skyhawks 6-4 on Tuesday afternoon.
Point scored the first three goals of the game, leading 3-0 with 10:58 to play in the first half. Berry responded, scoring four unanswered goals to take a 4-3 lead with just 20 minutes to play. The Skyhawks then rounded out the contest with three unanswered goals of their own, ensuring the 6-4 victory in the final 17 minutes of play.
Rose Blanchard led the Vikings with two goals in the win, and both Miranda Smith and Shadae Williams tallied once for Berry as well. Kristen Owens led Point with two goals of her own, scoring both of Point’s come-from-behind tallies with 6:30 to play in the second half.
Ella Makin took the loss in goal for Berry, collecting 11 saves in her 60 minutes of work, while moving the Vikings’ record to 4-4 overall on the year. Points’ Abbey Smith earned the complete-game win in goal for the Skyhawks, finishing the contest with 14 saves, while Point improved to 2-4 on the season.
