ATLANTA — Shorthanded, the Berry College women's basketball team dropped its conference opener at Oglethorpe University on Saturday 66-36. With the loss, Berry drops to 4-4 on the year while Oglethorpe improves to 8-1.
Jana Morning and Sydney Blankenship led the way with seven points apiece, but the Vikings struggled to get anything going offensively. The team shot 24.1% from the field, 19.0% from beyond the arc and just 28.6% from the charity stripe. Berry forced 22 Oglethorpe turnovers, but only generated 12 points off giveaways. Berry trailed 21-14 after the opening quarter, but scored just 22 points in the remainder of the game.
The team returns to the Cage on Dec. 17 to host Mississippi Univ. for Women at 5:00 p.m.
