ROME, Ga. — The Berry College women's basketball team won its fifth straight game on Sunday afternoon, besting the Rhodes College Lynx 57-47. The five straight victories over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponents ties the team's best such streak in program history set in the 2014-15 season.
With the win, Berry improved to 9-11 overall and sit in fourth place in the SAA with a 5-4 conference record. Rhodes fell to 11-9 overall and 4-5 in the SAA.
The Vikings were led by Jana Morning who scored 20 points and was 11-for-12 at the charity stripe. Alex Weems followed closely with 19 of her own. Berry played well defensively, holding Rhodes to a 25.9% shooting percentage and just 9.1% shooting from three-point distance. The Vikings also forced 17 Lynx turnovers.
The game was tied at 14 apiece at halftime as neither team could hit an offensive stride, but Berry outscored Rhodes 19-11 in the third to help secure the win.
