LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- There are ten players remaining in the race for the inaugural Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Player of the Year. Kassie Howard of Berry College is one of them.
Howard, a sophomore pitcher from Alpharetta, Georgia, finished the 2016 season with a 28-2 record. A two-time Southern Athletic Association Player of the Year, as well as a two-time NFCA All-Region Team member, Howard recorded 191 innings for the Vikings, posting a 1.32 ERA, while striking out 229 batters. She led her team to a program-best 39-8 year and a second place finish in the Atlantic Regionals for the second year in a row.
The list of nominated players started at 50 and was cut in half two weeks ago. Three finalists will be chosen next, and the inaugural Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III Player of the Year will be announced following the NCAA Division III Championship.
