JACKSON, Miss. -- The Berry College softball team defeated Millsaps College twice on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 6-0 and 2-1.
The wins improved the Vikings to 26-6 overall and 12-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Majors fell to 18-18 and 7-7.
In the first game, Kassie Howard and Marie Collop combined to shutout the Majors, 6-0. Howard (18-2) started and got the win for the Vikes. She threw six innings, allowed two hits and fanned five hitters. Collop tossed a scoreless seventh frame for BC.
The score was 1-0 before Berry plated five runs in the fifth inning. Cassidy DeNoon (12-11) took the loss for Millsaps.
Brittany Tuttle, who tripled in game one, led the 2-1 victory in game two. She batted 2-for-3 at the plate. Tuttle and Moore knocked in the sole RBIs for the Vikes.
Allie Coronado (7-4) earned the win on the mound. Coronado tossed four innings for the Vikes, allowing only five hits and one run. Howard earned her first save of the year, tossing the final three frames for Berry.
The Vikings and Majors close their SAA series with a single game on Sunday.
