Softball Defeats Pomona-Pitzer, 4-0

ROME, Ga. – Kenzie Fleming had two hits and Kassie Howard threw a one-hitter as the Berry College softball team defeated Pomona-Pitzer, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon.

The win improved the Vikings to 18-4 overall. The loss dropped the Sagehens to 2-10.

Fleming was 2-for-3 at the plate, leading the Viking offense on the day.

Howard (12-1) earned the complete-game win on the mound. She allowed only one hit and one walk in the outing, while striking out 13.

Four other players added a hit in the win: Brittany Ferrell, Brittany Tuttle, Sarah Moore and Ally Claytor. Ferrell and Claytor each scored once for the Vikes. Tuttle scored twice.

Both Ferrell and Kylie Aiken rounded out the BC offense, knocking in one RBI apiece.

For Pomona-Pitzer, leadoff Aryana Yee earned the sole hit of the day. Teammate Susanne Boden drew the walk.

Bianca Cockrell (1-5) took the loss on the mound for the Sagehens. Cockrell threw two innings. She allowed three runs off of three hits and two walks.

Emily Rockhill finished the game in the circle for Pomona-Pitzer, allowing three hits and one run, while striking out three.

Berry travels to Atlanta to take on rival Emory University in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 19. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
