#10 Softball Explodes at LaGrange, 16-5

LAGRANGE, Ga. -- Berry College set season-bests for runs and hits in a 16-5 win at LaGrange College on Wednesday night. The Vikings had 18 hits--including seven for extra bases--in the contest.

Berry, which won its 14th straight game, improved to 14-1. The Panthers fell to 5-6.

The visitors had a number of offensive stars. Kenzie Fleming went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five runs batted in. Marie Collop went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for BC. She homered with a runner on base in the fifth to break a 5-5 tie. Berry plated nine runs in the inning to force the mercy rule.

Additionally, Sarah Moore went 3-of-4 with a double, one triple and four RBI. Brittany Tuttle was 3-for-4 and scored two runs. 

Kassie Howard came on in relief in the fourth inning, faced one batter, recorded a strikeout, and earned the win. She improved to 9-0 on the season.

For LaGrange, Dani Gravett went 2-for-3 and also was the losing pitcher.

The Vikings--who moved up to tenth in the nation in the NFCA poll--face #1 Texas Tyler to open the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Friday. Game time is 12 p.m. in Columbus, Georgia.
