Viking Softball Wins Two More at William Peace Tournament

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Berry College ran its winning streak to ten games after taking two contests on Sunday at the William Peace Tournament. The Vikings defeated Piedmont College, 8-2, and then bested Greensboro College, 7-3.

The Vikings went 4-0 at the event and are now 10-1 on the season.

In the win over Piedmont (3-3), Kassie Howard pitched the entire game, gave up five hits and struck out seven Lions. She is now 6-0 on the year. 

Brittany Ferrell was 3-for-4, had a stolen base and knocked a two-run home run. Sarah Moore had a triple in three at-bats, scored three times, walked and had one RBI. Brittany Tuttle was 2-of-3 with a run and one stolen base.

Against Greensboro (5-3), Elisabeth Federici broke open a 1-1 game with a sharp hit to centerfield which scored Karlie Jarrett (2-of-2, 2 runs, stolen base and a sacrifice) in the fifth inning. Kenzie Fleming went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Moore hit 2-of-4 and drove in three runners.

Allie Coronado was the winning pitcher. She started in the circle, tossed five innings, allowed three hits and fanned two batters. Marie Collop threw the final two frames and earned the save.

The Vikings return to SAA action next Saturday at Hendrix College.
